Condominium sales in the Midwest posted fourth double-digit increase in last five months according to the lastest data for September 2009 released by the National Association of Realtors (NRA).
In particular, according to the NRA figures, the seasonally adjusted annual rate of condominium and co-op sales for Midwest increased in September 2009 to 110,000 units from 100,000 units in the previous month, representing a monthly increase of 10%.
As the graph below shows, condominium sales in the Midwest, posted another three double-digit monthly increases in the last five months, and particularly in May, June and July 2009 when the seasonally adjusted annual rate increased by 14.3%, 12.5% and 11.1%, respectively. In August 2009, the seasonally adjusted condominium sales in the Midwest remained flat at previous month's levels.
It should be noted that the increase in May 2009 was the largest monthly rise in codominium sales registered in the Midwest in the last 12 months. The largest monthly decrease in condo/co-op sales in the Midwest took place in November 2008 when the seasonally adjusted annual rate of sales dropped 15.3%.

On a year-over-year basis condo/co-op sales in the Midwest stayed flat, as the not seasonally-adjusted monthly sales in Septmber 2009 amounted to 10,000 units, as was the case in September 2008.
