Some major December 16 economic releases pertaining to US economy include the November 2009 Consumer Price Index, housing starts and housing permits.
The November 2009 US Consumer Price Index came at 0.4% on a monthly basis, matching the consensus forecast, and 1.8% on a year-over-year basis, matching also the consensus forecast. Core CPI in November 2009 was 0.0% slightly smaller than the consensus forecast of 0.1%.
US Housing Starts in November came to 574,000 units as predicted by the consensus forecast, while building permits came at 584,000 units exceeding the consensus forecast of 570,000 units.
On December 15 the November 2009 monthly change of PPI (producer price index) came at 1.8% significantly exceeding the consensus forecast of 0.8%.
On the UK front the October unemployment rate came at 7.9% matching the consensus forecast.
