Florida existing home sales posted an annual increase of over 30% in September 2009, according to a recent press release by Florida Realtors.

In particular, existing home sales in Florida in September 2009 climbed to 14,419 units, representing a 34% increased compared to the 10,778 homes sold in September 2008. Furthermore, existing home sales in Florida posted a monthly gain of 4.1% compared to the volume of sales in August 2009.

Increases in Florida existing home sales were widespread as all metropolitan statistical areas within the state registered gains in September 2009.

Sales increases in the Florida existing condo market were even stronger in September 2009 as Florida Realtors reported a year-over-year increase of 77%. Furthermore, statewide sales of existing condos registered in September 2009 a monthly increase of 8.7%. As was the case for Florida existing home sales, increases in sales of existing condos were widespread across all Florida metropolitan statistical areas but one, as reported by Florida Realtors.

The median sales price for Florida existing homes though posted a year-over-year drop of 19% as it decreased from $174,900 in September of 2008 to $142,000 in September 2009.
