More specifically, the seasonally adjusted annual rate of US home sales increased to 6.54 million units in November 2009, representing a monthly increase of 7.4%, and a year-over-year increase of 44.1%.
Note that, with the exception of August, US home sales have been increasing since April 2009. In October 2009 US home sales increased 9.9%.
US home sales registered gains of varying magnitude in all regions. The West registered the largest monthly gain of 10.6% while the South registered the smallest home sales increase of 4.8%.
In the Midwest and Northeast, home sales registered increases of 8.4% and 6.6%, respectively.
On a year-over-year basis home sales registered the largest increase of 58.2% in the Midwest followed by the Northeast where the not seasonally adjusted monthly home sales increased 54.9%.
Home sales in the South and West registered year-over-year increases of 47.9% and 30.6%, respectively.
