Germany appears to rank first among the top investment markets of 2009, as indicated by the preferences of international investors reported in the
Emerging Trends in Real Estate published in February 2009 by the Urban Land Institute and Pricewaterhouse-Coopers. In paritcular, according the results of the survey four German cities rank among the top 10 investment locations in Europe with Munich and Hamburg in first and second positions, respectively, and Frankfurt and Berlin falling also in the ten top. The top cities are the cities that had been doing least badly at the time of the survey. However, Germany's top ranking needs to be evaluated within the context of the robustness of the German economy and its ability to weather the storm better than others, which is questioned. Frankfurt features in the list of key office locations in Europe while Hamburg in the list of main transport and infrastructure hubs. Acocording to a Property EU Magazine survey, London and Paris remain unchallenged as the top European locations in terms of office investments. According to the
Emerging Trends report, the top five European markets in terms of development prospects are Instabul, Zurich, Munich, Moscow and Helsinki.
