US house sales rebounded strongly in September 2009, after posting a drop in August, according to the data released today by the National Association of Realtors.
In particular, the seasonally adjusted annual rate of home sales in the US (including single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and co-ops) posted a monthly increase of 9.4%, after dropping 2.9% in August.
The increase was strong in both the single-family home and condo/co-op segments, as they posted monthly increases of 9.4% and 9.7%, respectively.
The unadjusted annual rate of US house sales was up 7% year-over-year for all home sales, with single-family home sales being 6.4%up and condo/co-op sales being 18.0% up.
Home sales increases in September 2009 were widespread across all US regions. The Northeast posted the largest monthly increase of 11% while the West posted the smallest monthly gain of 5.1%. The South and the Midwest posted monthly increases of 9.2% and 5.8%, respectively.
